I brought the GT4 to an indy shop to get a full shakedown inspection and put new spark plugs in. Usually I do my own service but I have a shop do t he first look at every car. Then I have baseline for what theoretically should feel and sound right.
I bought this thing like a 11 year old. No pre purchase inspection, 1 t est drive and then buy. So far the shop is saying I’ve got a solid car that has had no unexpected hiccups. Hopefully I pick it up today and can get a little track day when I’m ready for new tires . My biggest worry was the coolant system but they did multiple vacuum tests and found no leaks. What a day.
The cargo spaces are also much larger than any of my other sports cars. This may be the most useful car I’ve ever owned.

Better than when I bought the M3, over the phone with no PPI or test drive; it’s worked out fine.

Same. I did find that the dealer had rotated the tires on my M3; which is normally great except they put the larger tires on the front :/

Bought mine from a Porsche dealer, so I would hope they would know that’s a thing. Mine had the correct wheels on each axel.

I bought my 2007 without a PPI, it’s been the best car I’ve ever owned. I saw a white GT4 @ Micros oft last year, had a full cage and looked like it had spent a lo t of time on the track. I got new br ak es and tires this year, but thanks to co vi d didn’t get any track time in.

The shop called it only needs a minor adjustment on drivers side control arm and an alignment. In it's history it had a cylinder 1 and 4 misfire which could be from sitting on a car lot with a low battery. We will see in 6 months from now.

The leaking gas is exactly why I got rid of my m3w.

Buy a Durametric cable, invaluable tool for these cars.

I haven’t driven a GT4 and it’s likely better than mine, my stock shifter was awful (felt like I was raking leaves). Installed the Porsche short shifter kit and Numeric racing cables , what a difference!

Hopefully my Aussie car has benefited enough from their departure from the Empire that it won’t have to suffer the same fate as your English car.

Yeah we all tell each other that PPIs are a must, but we all seem to fire from the hip a lot more often than we follow our own advice.
Fuck a PPI...who wants bad news?!

It depends, my M3 was still under factory warranty. Figured if anything was wrong, take it to the dealer and tell them to fix it.

If it can do a reasonable Costco run, it’s a perfectly practical car

Mine was too if only for a few months. However The E46 I did sight unseen without a PPI and obviously the 02

I bought my 997 that way, though I had extensive records from the servicing indy shop sent to me.

Seems to have worked out, at least, for the E46 that is.

Yeah E46 has been good and I’ve owned it for long enough for that to not really matter haha. The 02 I was safe because I bought it for less that it was worth so as long as it made it to the US I was ok. A teeth grinding two months

Nothing screams practical like a successful costco run.

If that dealer plate is legit, I think I drove by that one a few times when it was on the lot. Similar way I bought mine. Lots of test dives of others and a thorough look around but given the mileage and known history I felt good to go. Been 5+ happy years with 0 issues.

J-Sport Autoworks in bellingham. They work on my friend's full kitted race 911 so we'll see how it works on this car.

It is a friggin GT4.
If it isn’t a burned out shell, it is worth it... and worth fixing anything that could have been wrong.
Just get the SharkWerks gearset... and this car is golden... or at least still eye-searing yellow. ;-)

Cool, thanks for the info. Always good to have shop recommendations.
